Our Wedding

It started with barbecue and no intention of it becoming anything more than a good meal on a late night. But Robert and Shantie lingered anyway — one plate turned into hours of conversation, and before either of them realized it, the restaurant was closing around them. They didn't want the night to end. So they made sure the next one wouldn't either. That became their pattern. Every time they met, they stayed until the lights dimmed and the chairs went up, neither one willing to be the one to say I should go. Looking back, that was the first sign — some people count stars on a first date; they counted closing times. Over the past two years, Robert and Shantie have built a life made of ordinary, sacred things: listening to each other, learning each other, laughing until it hurts, crying when it's hard, and praying together through it all. They've found that kind of rare comfort — the security of knowing they're safe with one another, exactly as they are. On May 22nd, 2026, that quiet certainty became official. Robert asked, and Shantie's answer was an easy, joyful yes. Now they get to stay until this closing time — the one that never actually closes. They can't wait to celebrate with the people who mean the most to them.
